Pixel Art Creature Sprite - Hardy Horse

This is a fully animated horse sprite in a cozy pixel art style. If you're making a slice-of-life farming sim-style game, then you need a rideable horse!

Hardy Horse features 4-direction animations, 3 different movement speeds (walk, trot, and gallop), 2 different attacks (kick and strike), eating and resting animations, and more! While not exactly necessary, this asset was designed from the ground up to work perfectly with the Mana Seed Farmer Sprite System (sold separately), and they look great together (see preview images for an example).

Animations:

The following animations are included in this pack, all in 4 directions:

• 1-frame stand
• 3-frame idle (tail swish)
• 4-frame walk
• 4-frame trot
• 4-frame gallop
• 3-frame jump
• 3-frame strike (front hoof attack)
• 2-frame kick (rear hoof attack)

The remaining animations are in 2 directions (left/right)

• 2-frame eating grass
• 3 frames of resting alternates
• 1 frame each for hurt, fall down, and dead

Variation:

Right now there are 17 color variations based on real-world horse colors, and I will add more in future updates when I add things like spotted or painted color variations. I'm also planning other additions, like an alternate long mane and tail, and even a saddle, so follow me here on itchio so you can be notified about any updates.

Supernatural horse variants, like a unicorn or nightmare, will be sold separately at some point.

Technical Data:

The horse is around 32 pixels high and made for characters of around the same height. Each animation frame is purposely positioned inside a 64x64 pixel cell, for easy slicing. The full sprite sheet is 1024x512 pixels. The horse's head is sometimes on a separate layer for the rider's sprite to be behind it, and the variable shadow sprite is also on a separate layer. You'll need to move and animate these layers in sync to use them as intended. The asset includes a comprehensive animation guide to help with sprite positioning and frame timings.
