This is a simple animated hawk for an RPG (with either action or turn-based combat) or adventure game. The bird is around 32 pixels high and stays fully within a slice-able 32x32 pixel cell on the sprite sheet. The sheet is 128x256 in total and comes in six unique color variants. It includes the following animations:

  • 4-frame idle/move cycle
  • 2-frame attack animation
  • 1 frame hurt
  • 1 frame knocked-out
  • 4 frames perched on a branch (or shoulder?)
  • 3 frames standing on the ground
  • 1 separated shadow sprite

Note: the move/attack/hurt/k.o. animations come in 2 directions (up-angle and down-angle), which can be flipped to represent movement in any direction.

New in version 2.0: A Secret of Mana-inspired 6-frame explosion animation and assorted bone and feather particle sprites for use when your monster dies.

The background used in the preview image is from my World Tree tileset:

Is there an Up down animations?

As it says in the product description:

Note: the move/attack/hurt/k.o. animations come in 2 directions (up-angle and down-angle), which can be flipped to represent movement in any direction.

Hello, nicce work ! do you have a demonstration with all animations ?

Especially Attack and Knocked-out.

Hey ๐Ÿ‘‹ Yes, I've just added a short demo reel ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

Nice thank you! Exactly what I expected for the attack!

Greetings i love your jrpg style and i wanted to ask which rpg maker or any game maker engine these are used for ?
thank you in advance.

Non of my assets are specifically designed with RPG Maker in mind. For many, you will need plugins to make them work. If you're willing to try something like Unity or Godot, you'll find they don't have as many restrictions, and you'll be able to use a lot more assets.

thank you for your fast answer . i am trying to make a retro style rpg game with rpg maker as i have no programming skills sadly and i really love your assets honestly they are the best so far what i know is that rpmg maker mz supports 16x16 tilesets nowdays so would these work there? and do you mind naming some of those restrictions i might face with rpg maker?

I have no idea if this animated monster will work in RPG Maker. But I'm willing to bet it won't without some plugins, or at the very least rearranging the animation frames on the grid required by RPG Maker. This asset doesn't have the exact animation frames that RPG Maker requires, so it's probably not going to look right. You're just working within some very strict boundaries, so if you want to use RPG Maker, you should probably stick to art that was made specifically for RPG Maker.

Great work.

Thanks! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘
